Guys beware of this name…”Toby Tangsoc”. My encounter with him happened last Dec. 13, 2008, Saturday, around 5pm with this number 09178120511. I got a call from him informing me about the opportunities that their company offers. At first, I thought that the call is legitimate coming from my application from other companies. The conversation goes smoothly and the usual short phone interview occurred. He is a good English speaker and he presented himself well. He mentioned that his company is a multinational company located in US and they are expanding their office here in Manila and that they are looking for someone who has a potential leadership skill. I answered very actively and promptly to his entire question just like my job interviews from other companies. I also mentioned that I just finish my work from my previous employer and I am open and looking for other opportunities right now.
And I think, that gave him a go signal to push through with his offer, he scheduled me right away for an interview on Monday, Dec.15, 2008 at 3:30pm. He actually asks me if I have a pen and paper with me for him to dictate the address of his company, but since I’m outside I don’t have any at that moment. So it resorted on him texting me the complete address of his company, which I appreciated a lot. And this is the complete text: “12th Floor BELVEDERE TOWER, SAN MIGUEL AVENUE, ORTIGAS CENTER, PASIG CITY. Mr. Toby Tangsoc 09178120511. Sr Exec. “
After receiving the text I replied thanking him for the invite and confirming that I will be on the site at 3pm, Monday, just to show a good manner when receiving an invite from company through text. Yet I notice after a while that I almost forgot to ask him the name of the company, (who the hell were going to an interview without knowing the name of the company), I mean its very hassle on my part talking to the guard or receptionist and ask for specific name of a stranger or even an executive since it is very much obvious that name of the building given is not a company related name. So I texted him right away for the name of the company, he replied “I’m senior exec of GALVANICS”. Good I got a reply after an hour; I almost smile when I notice that he repeatedly stated his position...you know he is so proud of that…hehehe.
When I got home and face my computer, I searched the net and keyed in the “GALVANICS” keyword, without any intention or something, just for a reason that I’m not coming for an interview without checking the background of the company that I’m applying with. But I was so surprised because there is no definite website of a company on the display. So I tried searching for ‘Toby Tangsoc’ name, then…boom…it almost take the wind out of my sails when the searches appeared. This is outrageous I don’t expect to read his name on the beware blogs of numerous blogger. I found a very useful blog which have links to other blogs too (click here)– that only means that the name toby tangsoc is not only related to Galvanics (which is unreal) but also to different names of a company like NuSkin, Synergy One Global, MLM, NSE Philippines or Pharmanex. …etc. which are responsible for a recruitment scam, networking, pyramiding, dishonesty and the like, to their prospective applicants. Wah the f*ck!
That made me decides not to go for that interview anymore. I’d rather stay at home and relax than coming on a false, scam and bogus interview of this man and his company. Thanks God that there are internet and other bloggers, who published their bad experiences with these people (because they are actually many and I found a list of their names) and their company. I mean just like others stand I believed that there is no wrong in networking because you can actually earn bucks for this, depending on how hard-working and diligent you are, as long as you do what is ethical and right. What is bad about these people is that they become dishonest and insincere in recruiting people. I don’t know if they are too desperate to find recruits or this is really their way of inviting people.
Monday, 2 in the afternoon, I received 2 missed calls from him and a text message, which I ignore and pay no attention at all. The 1st message “Mr. Ereneo, call me in office 4081522 or in cell”, and 2nd message “Mr Ereneo. Good news, we moved location of meeting 2 main ofc, easier to find. 15th Flr Octagon bldg #41 San Miguel Avenue, ortigas center, Pasig. Toby Tangsoc”. The last message gave me a confirmation that the first address texted to me was not the real address of his company but a trick one just to mislead me if ever I continue to attend that interview. And you know guys; the address mentioned above are the place that was revealed by other bloggers. It only means that he is now using different addresses to hide his company identity since that place becomes too familiar and well-known already due to the write-ups of some concern individual appealing to be cautious on that location.
To stop him on bothering me anymore, I replied with this “Sorry sir, I am no longer interested. To be honest with you, I believed on the things I have read about you and your company. Thanks for the invite though”....hehehe!
I hope you guys learn something about this blog and spread the news to your friends too so that they may become aware about this thingy.

I am now available and currently looking!
I am now available and currently looking! – Oops hindi sa lovelife yan ha, hehehe sinadya ko lang na gawing catchy yung title para maintriga kayo at basahin niyo. Actually, I am unemployed right now and looking for a new job, meaning I am no longer connected as Programmer Analyst – International to West Contact Services, Inc. Opo, wala akong work ngayon at kasalukuyang tambay sa bahay. Syempre interesado kayong malaman yung reason kung bakit, di ba?...hehehe, dahil ito sa kagagawan ni Barney, siya yung kulay violet na mascot na pinapanood ng mga bata sa cable, ung famous song niya “I love you, you love me, we’re a happy family…etc” di ko kabisado lyrics at wala akong balak kabisaduhin. May kumakalat pa ngang balita na cause daw si Barney ng pagiging malamya ng mga batang lalake na paborito siyang laruin paglaki nila, kaya kung ako sa inyo wag nyo ipapalaro sa mga maliliit na kapatid, pamangkin o anak ninyong lalake si barney kung ayaw niyong lumandi siya paglake niya…lolz
Okey balik tayo. Siya kasi yung ipinalit ng management as Vice President for Info. Services, which is the department kung saan ako kabilang. Ay kaapelyedo niya lang pala, hindi siya na mascot ha…hehehe, ang real name niya is Brian Barney. Ang siste, di niya yata kami trip o talagang nagpo-power tripping lang siya kaya ang ginawa niya tinanggal niya ang buong IS team ng Philippine, Makati site. Oo lahat kami as in lahat, we are total of 17 sa IS team dito sa Pilipinas: 16 programmer analyst and 1 local manager. Ang lufet niya sobra. Last November 11, 2008 niya ginawa ang announcement which is the date of my anniversary too as regular employee sa West. O di ba ang saya? During the phone conference halos walang nakapag-react sa amin o nakapag-raise man lang ng questions dahil we are all surprised and blanked. Ganito ko iko – quote sa inyo yung sinabi niya, “your services are no longer needed by West” by Brian Barney.
Asar di ba? Ayaw pa nilang aminin na we are part of the global financial crisis recession, gumawa – gawa pa sila ng dahilan na they’ve decided to roll – back the old system they’ve using daw, that is why since we are all hired to support java application di na nila kami kelangan kasi they will stop na daw using java. As if naman di naming kaya i-handle yung changes ng rollback. Ayun nga sa madaling salita wala kaming nagawa, at ang masaklap walang nagawa ang management sa Pilipinas, kung hindi sumunod na lang.
Matapos ang conference dahil mukhang minamadali talaga kami na umalis, pinapirma agad kami ng notice ng HR. Ang nilalaman, tungkol sa matatanggap namen na severance pay and a 1 month lee – way to finish the task daw. As if naman may gana pa kaming gumawa ng mga task. Siguro yung 1 month na yun para makapagpaalam kami ng maayos with tears…hehe… sa mga maiiwan namin na mga friends. Pero matapos ang mahigit isang linggo o eight days to be exact pinatawag ulet kami ng HR Director and General Manager sa meeting. Medyo excited at first, pero wala talaga kaming idea na sasabihin na sa amin na “this will be your last day of work, you are no longer required to report to work anymore”. Another shocking revelations…badtrip talaga!, sobrang minadali ang mga bagay – bagay. Ang dahilan nila kung baket ganon kasi daw para magkaroon kami ng time na umattend sa mga job appointments namen to other companies. Pero bayad naman na daw kami until Dec. 11, including night differential and allowances…yun naman pala.Take note general manager and HR director ang nag-announce niyan, feeling siguro nila sobrang matutuwa kami sa ibabalita nila, e ang turn-out hindi ganon kasaya, actually naasar pa nga kami. Naiisip ko nga nung inaannounce ung tungkol sa pagdissolve sa team namen wala sila doon sa conference room para suportahan kami o kaya salagin man lang yung decision ni Barney, tapos ngayon porket medyo positive yung news, e sila ang magbabalita, nagpapabango baga at hugas kamay...hehehe di ako bitter. Asa! E mas lalo nga kami na badtrip e dahil sinabi na last day niyo na mag-ayos-ayos na kayo ng gamit, ayan ang karton! Ibabalik nyo na ang mga badges,ID’s and keys nyo, now na! at wala na kayong access sa lahat ng bagay dito sa Office simula ngayon. At ganon nga ang nangyari 30 minutes before 6am, end ng shift namin, nag-end na rin ang lahat: wala ng access sa mail, network drives, communicator, station logins at Official West goodbye na nga!
Buti nga yung iba nagkaroon pa ng time na makapagback – up ng mga files nila e, ako sobrang saklap ng nangyari saken, kasi ba naman prior to that day biglang na-detect na may virus yung station ko at kailangan i-pull out ng tech services, ayon sa kasamaang palad during that time na kelangan na namin umalis wala akong nabackup na kahit anong files sa PC ko. Hindi ko man lang nasilayan ang pc ko kahit sa huling pagkakataon...huhuhu. At ngayon nga daw ayon sa isa kung source sa loob e unrecoverable na daw ang hardisk ko. Ewan ko kung dahilan na lang yun kasi nga naman wala na ako sa office at wala na akong power so baket pa nga ba nila gagawin yung request ko…hehehe. Di na nga rin ako umasa kasi during the meeting sa HR, sinabi ko yung tungkol sa nangyari ko PC ko ang sagot ba naman saken, “there is no such thing as personal files in your station, so everything in your pc is own by West”…wah! Nagtanong pa kasi ako e tuloy lalo pa sila nagka-idea na magsasave kami ng mga nagawa namin na project. Kaya umuwi akong luhaan…huhuhu, bitbit ang karton ng mga gamit ko sa office at hanging ang utak kung ano ang susunod na kabanata ng mga career namin…wahaha. Nakakahinayang lang kasi magpapasko pa naman.
Buti na lang merong saying na “If one door closed, the other will open!” tsaka strong faith kay God. Alam ko may naghihintay na mas magandang plano si God para sa akin. So here I am right now, available, free, ready for new commitment and looking for a new job opportunities to other companies, so attend – attend ulet ako ng mga interviews and exam ngayon. Sabi nga ng isa kong ka-office mate “Hello jobstreet and jobsDb”. Hehe update ng resume, revive ng account at kaliwa’t kanan na punta sa mga interviews ang gawain ko ngayon. Parang wala naman bago kasi bago ako nagkaroon ng work dati ganito rin ginawa ko. Trivia: “Alam niyo ba na mahigit 30+ ang naatenand ko na interview and/or exam dati, bago ako nagkaroon ng work” , dami noh? … at ngayon, kasalukuyan akong lumalagare ng dalawang interview kada-araw. Yung iba dun di ko inapplyan basta bigla na lang ako tinawagan at yung iba naman na inapplyan ko sa jobstreet bigla nalang ako na kahit wala pa ni-isang tawag akong narerecieve from them. Siguro di nila kayang tapatan yung previous compensation and yung expected salary ko ngayon. Kaya ayon bigla na lang ako unsuccessful...hehehe angas!. Meron din ako inapplyan abroad kaya lang parang alanganin kasi unsuccessful1 year and 4 months lang yung experience ko professionally. Alam niyo nga idinadaan ko na lang sa charisma yung iba e…hehehe…asa, hindi nga pwera biro, I mean idinaan ko na lang sa sobrang garang presentation ng resume, ayon medyo effective naman siya kasi nakakakuha ako ng audience at nagkakaroon ako ng schedule for interviews. Sabi nga ng iba ang real purpose daw ng resume is for you to get notice by the employer and to get an interview. Pero make sure na tama and totoo yung ilalagay mo sa resume mo kasi kabaligtaran ang mangyayari sa’yo pag nagsinungaling ka…haha nanakot pa daw ako!
Alam nyo mahirap rin talaga mag-apply noh?!, halos na – master ko na nga yung mga questions sa mga exams e at halos kabisado ko na ang mga isasagot ko sa mga tanong sa interviews dahil nga halos pare-pareho lang sila.
